Come celebrate and help SAVE the Bear River
A Solstice Celebration starting at 10 am on Tuesday, June 20th to bless our Bear River will be an all inclusive day of prayer. We will hold sacred space for all who want to come and pay their respects to our living River. Come any time during the day.
Please bring your prayers and offerings with songs, music, dance, spoken words, and intentions for the long life of our River. Sometimes we get tired of the politics and debate and just need to come to the river and pray. That is what we will do on Solstice followed by the Neena McNair Family Singers from 5-7pm on Tuesday the 20th.
Wednesday, June 21st will consist of talking circles addressing What I learned at Standing Rock, What it means to me to be a Water Protector, How to form a Coalition, The role of the Allies, and Indigenous Leadership. We hope to close out the afternoon/evening by forming an Alliance of all People Who Love our Bear River. If you are a Water Protector, if you love the Bear River and All Rivers; Come and Join Us!
Bear River Threat: This reach of the Bear River is threatened by Nevada Irrigation District’s proposed 275-foot high Centennial Dam. This very campground would be inundated by over 120-feet of water. Come celebrate the river as it is, and learn what this proposal is all about. Find out for yourself what is at stake, and why this dam should never happen. Help us launch a vision for the future, restoring not destroying this river. We can solve all our problems with wise use of what we already have--- saving the best for our children’s children. There are clear opportunities and clear risks. Come live, and learn, and celebrate this beautiful river.
This event is being presented by the Bear River Awakening Project, American River Watershed Institute.
A limited number of camping sites are available. Meals are your own responsibility.
Please REGISTER by using the RSVP Form, below.
